35 Independent Centers That Keep Kids Learning While You Teach Small Guided Math Groups
By Deborah Wirth
In this book, veteran teacher Deborah Wirth shares her teaching and management tips for keeping the rest of the class engaged in meaningful work while you meet with small guided math groups. Her centers address one-to-one correspondence, place value, money, patterns, shapes, symmetry, measurement, and more. Each center accommodates a variety of activities, so students can work at the skill level that’s right for them. An invaluable resource to help you differentiate math instruction in the primary grades!
To keep all my center ideas organized, I use a three-ring binder with tab dividers. I put the name of the icon on the tab divider. I write the center ideas related to this icon directly on the divider sheet. I place any blackline masters behind the tab. If I have any teacher resource books pertaining to that center icon, I make a copy of the cover of the resource book and also place it behind the tab!
