Phonics TossArrange children into two or three teams. Divide a big sheet of drawing paper into five sections. Write a vowel, blend, or digraph in each section. Then challenge children to a beanbag toss. Have team members take turns tossing the beanbag onto the paper. When the beanbag lands, have the child say the phonics sound in that section and think of a word that begins with that sound. Write the words on the chalkboard, keeping separate columns for each team. Players earn one point for each word.
