Teaching Tip:

Idioms are so ingrained in our speech and writing that much of learning to master them entails simple recognition. Ask your students to pay careful attention to their speech and that of their friends and family. Have them keep lists of anything they hear or say that they think might be an idiom. Then pick a time each week to discuss students' lists. In addition, keep a class list and add any idioms that you discover while studying other classroom subject.
