From the Author: “Reading the Room” “Reading the room” is one of children’s favorite activities. We keep a basket of eyeglass frames and several types of “reading wands” in our room. Children don the glasses and walk around the room pointing to and reading all of the print they see, especially the bulletin boards. Our reading wands are the liquid-filled sparkle plastic wands available in toy stores. For longer wands, we decorate dowel rods, available in craft or hardware stores. For safety, we glue an orange cap from an old glue bottle at the end!
