We want students to understand that spelling is important; it helps carry the meaning of their written pieces. However, we don't want students interrupting their drafting to check the spelling of words. The purpose of this interactive mini-lesson is to create a list of resources that students can use when checking or confirming the spelling of words during the editing process!
Type of Mini-Lesson: InteractiveThis lesson emphasizes student engagement in one aspect of writing. It can also be considered a brief practice session. Since students are actively thinking, writing, or revising, they quite often remember the focus of the mini-lesson and use it when writing independently.
