Let children read the book aloud softly as you listen in. Although they are reading independently, you are there to provide support and scaffolding. For example, you might guide children to use word-solving strategies, such as “mining” context clues, when they get stuck. Whenever possible, try to provide prompts and encouragement without interrupting the flow of children’s reading.
