Product Description:
A prickly emotion is a feeling that makes you mad, sad, or scared. Write a prickly emotion in the first blank of the poem. Use these questions to help you write about your prickly emotion:
• How does it feel?
• When do you feel this way?
• Does it get you in trouble? How?
• How is it uncomfortable?
• What do you do when you feel this way?
• Does it ever help you?
Example:
My anger is as fierce as a cornered cobra snake.
I feel angry when my big sister teases me.
Sometimes I scream and shout.
Teaching Tip:
After the poem is completed, celebrate kids' efforts by inviting them to share their poem with a partner or a small group, read their poem to the class or to an older buddy, or copy their poem onto a blank sheet of paper and illustrate it as part of a display.
